If you’ve been working out for a few months, you’ll know how hard it is to consistently challenge your body week after week. We’ve done some asking around and have compiled a short list of new exercises to try in 2015!

Eagle Claw Push Ups
Already doing fingertip push ups? The Eagle Claw takes this exercise to the next level! Build strength in your fingers, hands and forearms by starting in a standing position and reaching down to place your fingertips on the ground. Walk yourself out to a regular push up position, all the while making sure that only your fingertips are touching the ground. Finally, to complete the repetition, walk your hands back towards your body and resume a standing position.

Battle Ropes Exercises
Interval training with battle ropes is a great way to target your core whilst also building upon your cardio fitness. Plant your feet firmly on the ground (shoulder-width apart), then begin to swing your arms up and down or side to side producing alternating or parallel waves. You can also slam the ropes onto the ground or squat, star jump and lunge with the ropes in hand.

Goblet Squats
Goblet squats are almost like a weights-equivalent of the popular yoga pose malasana. To complete a full repetition, hold a weight (kettlebell or dumbbell) against your chest. Stand a little further than shoulder-width apart with your toes pointing slightly outwards. This squat is more like a “sit” – keeping your chest up the whole time, lower yourself to the ground. You are aiming to sit back and down between your knees. Squat as low as you can, all the while keeping your feet flat on the floor; make sure that your back is straight and you’re not leaning forward.. If your heels come up, try widening your stance.
Once you’re in the squatting position, push your knees out with your elbows and then stand up to finish. The great thing about this exercise is that, unlike regular squats, the goblet-kind is very hard to do incorrectly!
Before starting a completely new exercise, it’s always a good idea to consult a professional. If you’re working out at an ifeelgood24/7 gym, why not ask one of your friendly staff for a hand? Better yet, book a personal training session and take your work outs to the next level!
